Ideas Well Done is looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer that will be taking on a role in the design and validation of new product hardware in a fast-paced R&D environment. As a Hardware Engineer, you will report directly to Engineering Management and interface with Mechanical engineering to help drive efficient concepting, documentation and development of projects in a fun, engineering oriented environment.


  • BS/MS In Electrical Engineering, Or similar

  • Experience in embedded MCU/MPU schematic capture, PCB layout design and validation

  • Experience in analog, digital, AC/DC and low power DC/DC designs

  • Soldering experience specifically of SMD components – 0603/Fine Pitch sizes

  • Troubleshooting & Debugging Experience with embedded test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, bus analyzers, in-circuit emulators, and logic analyzers

  • Basic knowledge or experience with programming in C/C++

  • Physical wiring & testing of prototype systems

  • Able to work independently, self-manage and prioritize several tasks at once

  • Must be a strong team player and creative thinker

  • Able to work under pressure and maintain quality of detailed work


  • 2-5 years of relevant engineering work

  • Communications such as USB, Ethernet, Serial, RS485, SPI/I2C & Wifi

  • High speed differential pair routing in MPU based control systems

  • Experience in KiCad and/or Altium designer

  • Experience with HMI/GUI development

  • Embedded robotics development

  • Exposure to structured product development processes

  • Experience with revision control software such as BitBucket


  • Work closely with a team of engineers to support existing platforms and to develop future control systems

  • Generate Schematics, Bill of materials, PCB Gerber files

  • Prototype and validate PCB designs

  • Wire, test and troubleshoot full system prototype designs

  • Travel to Clients within the United States a few times a year for up to one week at a time

  • Perform various other duties or responsibilities as requested by Supervisor or Manager
